We have received word that several retirees have had their pension benefit checks reduced varied amounts, varying between $50 to $250.  The reason for these reductions is that the PBGC has not yet finished auditing the IAM defined benefit fund at US Airways.  Until that is completed, the company will be estimating current retirees benefits.  They may be estimating on the low side, so after the audit is completed, if it is determined that the retirees have been under-paid, they will be reimbursed the underpayment, along with interest.
